COPA APPRECIATION AWARD 2022 – CHRIS HANSEN
The Board of Directors of the Courtenay Airpark Association is pleased to announce that Mr. Chris Hansen, who has been a member of the Airpark since the late 1980s and a former member of the Airpark Board of Directors, has been selected for a 2022 COPA Appreciation Award. This prestigious award is conferred annually to a group or aviator who has made a significant contribution to the support and promotion of flying in Canada.
Chris was nominated for this year’s award in recognition of the unwavering dedication, commitment and support that he has provided to the Airpark over many years, both as a former member of the Board and as a volunteer for a wide range of Airpark activities. He volunteers his time year-round to ensure good grounds and facilities maintenance and spares no effort to keep the Airpark looking its best. He also provides continual management and coordination of the Airpark’s computer and surveillance camera systems, helps local businesses when they need to access or operate around the Airpark, and represents the Airpark annually at the Comox Valley Exhibition. In addition, he promotes aviation to aspiring pilots in the local area through fundraising and familiarization flights, and willingly shares his vast experience as a military, commercial and private aviator. Moreover, as many of you know, he is always the first to lend a helping hand to any of our members in need.
The Appreciation Awards will be a highlight of the banquet to be held on 25 June at the COPA Fly-In and Aviation Exhibition being hosted this year in St. Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec. Please join the Board of Directors in congratulating Chris for his selection for the COPA Appreciation Award and for bringing great credit to himself and to the Courtenay Airpark.
